The short September contest report (by DL6AUI
and DL2ALF) :
"THE BIG
EXCEPTION : NOTHING BUT SUNSHINE"
Already
days before beautiful weather has been forecasted. Frank, DL2ALF, was
sceptical checking all meteorological services. But it happened this way!
The loading on Friday was a pleasure. We could place all our equipment
beneath the blue sky to get them into the van in the best possible way. The
trip to our contest location was as usual. Passing the city of Oberhof we
could see "our" Schneekopf in the distance. The weather was at its best
side.
The sight was hazily ensuring stable meteorological conditions. Wind varied
from light to storm. Temperature was not suitable to take off our coats but
we got a lot of sunshine! Most popular : sun hats and sun cream.
The setup of our 3 antenna systems and the shack took about 6 hours from
0700 until 1300UTC. One hour left for warming up the 144.333MHz. The start
was slowly : 100 QSOs per hour during then first two hours. Already on
Sunday noon the 1000th QSO was completed. At the end 1120 QSOs were in the
log, a new all-time high for DL0GTH.
Removing the equipment with sunshine was very easy. All OMs were back home
at sunset.
Harti, DL6AUI as the head of DL0GTH would like to thank all partners for
their assistance. Cuagn in October! |
