June '03

We started on Saturday as usual and found the "Schneekopf" mountain lying under beautiful sunshine with light winds only. The equipment was built up quickly until 1200z. After that we had some problems with the 23cm - PA but around 1300z everything was cleared. We started on time 1400z with 1296MHz - 10GHz on mast and 24GHz on tripod. 47GHz was planned for Sunday. After a short discussion we decided to build up our kitchen tent too. The weather conditions remained very quiet and the temperatures were still above 20° during the night. On Sunday bright sunshine again but the sight worsened rapidly to 15-20km due to a very vaporous weather situation. That's why we could not complete a 47GHz - QSO. On the afternoon dark clouds appeared from the west as forerunners of heavy thunderstorms. Also the wind was freshening up. We stopped the contest 1 hour earlier and so we were able to collect all the equipment without getting wet. CU in July!
