Although the preparations didn't seemed to be blessed with good fortune.
In the last few days before the contest we had :
- no legitimation document by our local forest office
- no access to our contest QTH because a 30cm snowbank blocked the only
route
- no power supply
- no operators because of holidays, QRL, ...
But everything turned into a good account on Friday and the loading was
completed as usual. Already on Wednesday the weather forecast promised
an excellent contest weather : Only sunshine all day long. No rain at
all. And it happened!
Even with bright sunshine it was quite cold with temperatures around
12°C and much wind. On Sunday the wind turned into little storm with a
strength of 5..6 bft. Everything not fastened was learning to fly, such
as tripods and coffeemakers (without water but with coffee powder).
The erection on site went quickly. As we arrived on Saturday at 0700ut
the snow melted down to some cm and we started our work soon. When the
rest of the crew arrived we had already finished the setup of our 23cm
dish. The rest of the antennas was erected quickly because the work was
optimal balanced on each OM. We finished at 1300ut with time for a short
lunch. The "microwave" tripods for 24/47/76GHz were also aligned on
Saturday.
Conditions were normal on all bands except some good tropo on 10/24GHz
on Sunday morning. Our Highlights were QSOs with SK7MW on 9cm (549km)
and with DF0YY on 24GHz (206km).
Otherwise business as usual. No breakdowns during the whole contest.
On Sunday at 1600ut, after two hours, everything was packed back in the
vans. A last group picture for the homepage and homeward!
We hope for good results. Cuagn in June contest! |
