Here is the
report from May '03 (tnx DL6AUI) :
After loading the transporters on
Friday with beautiful sunshine we started our little convoy Saturday 08.15
direction "Schneekopf". After about 1 hour we arrived on the top. This year the
snow rests were replaced by storm and light rain. The temperature was about +4°C.
So
the most essential things were waterproof clothing and a little unsuspicious ceramic bottle
containing some very suspect high-proof spirit (tnx DL2AKT). Because of the wind we could not
build up the "kitchen" tent first. Fortunately we did a lot of work in preparing the contest with new
masts and extra-strong guy ropes. And so everything goes fine until 16.00.
On the afternoon the storm was declining to "wind" and the sun began to shine.
The night was starry and the Sunday starts with bright sunshine persisting the
rest of the day. The temperatures however were rising very slow, so no chance to pull out
the warm clothes until afternoon. We could pack our things without any drop of
rain on Sunday evening.
Some words about the conditions and the result : good tropo propagation and well
populated bands were pushing our results to new top scores on 3.4GHz, 24GHz and
47GHz. Highlights were 2 QSOs on 24GHz over 121km (without 10GHz talkback!) and
1 QSO on 47GHz over 51km (both <100µW). A lot of stress for all the microwave
OP's. We are sorry for some delayed and refused scred requests. Pse try again in
the next contest. See you in June
!
